Pope Saint John Paul ll
believed strongly in evangelization by the lay people and also strongly believed in the use of television and radio in this evangelization work.

As great a job Relevant Radio did covering the March for Life last month, they did even better covering preparation for Lent. Relevant Radio programming gets better every year.

It has just been announced the local community radio station, 92.9 FM, was sold to a Washington, D.C. area conglomerate — Metro Radio. Up until now, Berkeley Springs residents heard friendly voices broadcasting community events, playing ads for community restaurants and other businesses, warning residents of traffic accidents and fires, and broadcasting local weather reports.

Starting next week, 92.9 FM will simulcast sister station WTNT, which broadcasts Spanish adult contemporary music and talk 24/7. There will be no more local weather, local news, local community events. The employees were all fired without notice.

How can WDTF help out? We do not know. It would be great if we had a volunteer to work at our station to announce community events, weather and special announcements. Do we have any volunteers or ideas? Let’s hear them.

We have made some progress in our Internet reception of Relevant Radio. As most of you know, when the micro storm tore down our satellite dish we had to employ the use of the Internet to obtain the Relevant Radio broadcast to get the programming to you. We plan to reinstall a new larger satellite dish on the ground, or at a lower level, however we need to wait for the equipment.  As most of you are aware, our reception using Frontier Internet service has not been thatgreat.. Fortunately, during the latest outage when the Frontier technician arrived, our Pat Crosby was able to convince him to put WDTF on a higher quality cable. Since then the quality of our reception has significantly improved. Let us pray this continues and we have fewer and shorter dropouts.

If you missed a local show, take advantage of our local programming available for listening or downloading from Sound Cloud on the Internet. Type, or copy and paste, the web address below into your search engine and listen to some of the programs you may have missed or you may wish to hear again.

Thanks to Sound Cloud you can sit at home and listen to any talk. Go to the website listed above and then stroll down to the Teri’s Tea Time talk as well as many of Father Leonard’s homilies and Father Jack’s Semper Fi Show.

WDTF is supported only by donations. We do not receive support from the diocese. A detailed list of our expenditures is available upon request. No one receives compensation. Please pray for our mission and be as generous as you can.
